The Rooks

Lewes has a community-owned football club, with a number of men’s and women’s and youth teams. Lewes FC is the first ever football club to pay its men and women the same wage (see: EqualityFC). The ‘Dripping Pan’ stadium has a café and a bar, the latter of which is run by volunteers, including me. The club continues to go from strength to strength within the community and in recent years raised funds to create an all-weather practice pitch, while in the bar, we have recently had a fixed bottle opener installed. I am proud to be part of LewesFC’s success.
