A short story-memoire, recently published in True Tales from the Old Hill (2015, Frogmore Press), ‘Firetrail’ recounts being a child living in the Santa Monica canyons where summer days meant long walks with the dogs up on the firetrails, so-called because these cuttings in the mountains served as breaks, stopping brush fires jumping from one hill to the next.
